Tuesday's historic election brought hope to the hearts of millions of Americans, black, white Americans, Latinos and Asian Americans. Each has drawn for one purpose, to bring "change" to the tired politics of the past that have failed us so many times before. This election is an example of how far our nation has come in the last 150 years of racial tension and division, or so he thought. We as Americans disagree with each other all the time, but we are still a country. A nation where freedom is the reality and power can embody any person of any sex, race or culture. There are liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans, in a single body of government with a purpose, to ensure the survival and success of liberty. But what I had seen the media protected behind the millions of Americans celebrated the victory to congratulate our first black president was hatred and anger. This Not the regular disappointment of a Republican or Democrat in the past, but rage.
This anger so evident that when I called my father in Zanesville, which is African American himself, informing him of the victory of Obama, he said, "Be careful out there." "Look me in?" I had thought, "Why should I see myself in one of the best days of all time?" Returning to my bedroom and get into the Facebook like always, I found exactly why my father had told me this. Written text in several of my so-called "Facebook friends" statutes and the names were comments that I thought offensive and inappropriate. I attend the University is a very conservative politically, but the comments of several of my colleagues made me sick, even for refer to myself as a student there. I will not write what any of the states to say, I'll just leave your mind to wander. I really do not know some people until something of this magnitude occurs, and from there you can see the removal of his mask and face the truth.
I love this country with all my heart, a patriot and I always will be for her, but it is time that all see the light. Our country is actually growing to what its name refers to the United States of America. United, as defined in the dictionary, combined into a single entity, and Americanism, loyalty to the United States and its customs and institutions, is what we are finally starting to see emerge. Can we forge together to support our newly elected president or are willing to stay in the past that roams the oppression and freedom is difficult to find? The answer lies in Americans that our nation changing, but not want to admit it, Americans who have lost their great candidate for the moment. I am thankful to myself in the outcome of this election. Every year of my 13 years of education taught me about slavery and the rights civilians, wondering if this nation will never overcome the racial barrier holding it down. But now I know my kids to see that yes, times have changed and eyes open. You see that with 200 years of division finally pulled together and made us young reverend dream, reality. And so I leave you with this quote by President John F. Kennedy, "Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present the certainty of losing the future."
