Abot issue digital televison?

if people who have cable are not supposed to hit, then why do some of my channels disappear? a message passes through the bottom of the screen indicating that the channel becomes digital and 5 days that just disappears. this happened to HBO, Cartoon Network, HGTV, Discovery Health, and others. Is there something I'm missing?

In short, the cable is also transitioning to digital, so similar, but for reasons other than air stations. Still be capable of receiving broadcast channels in analog, that part of the transition to television has not changed.
