As parents homeschool, there are many options for teaching our children. I found the variety out there to be really overwhelming, but with few resources actually meet my needs. My son is talented, but has ADHD. As a physician and professor, I hated to see him fight at school. Every day I said I had "Carnitors" (T-Rex for the rest of us) on her belly. After meeting with his teacher on several occasions, it became clear that the school could not / do not want meet their needs to my satisfaction. Children with ADD / ADHD need a place with few distractions, short bursts of learning followed by physical activity the structure and learning materials tailored to the way of learning and learning about the scheduled hours when they learn best.

After several months and several hours each day creating their lessons fragmentary, found a couple of great resources. The first is that of AOL at school: href = "http://www.aolatschool.com."> http://www.aolatschool.com. There is an incredible amount of information, links to full text online and more. Here is where I go when there is a topic of interest and want to know more. (Remember when we had to get our parents to take us to the library?) A the advantages is that it's FREE! Textbooks ranging from kindergarten all the way through high school and cover most of the items.

The second action I found provides the basis for our curriculum homeschooling: http://www.time4learning.com. Time4Learning offers a multimedia interactive experience for children that cover all core subject areas. For children with ADD / ADHD, you can divide it into fragments 10 lessons minute. In addition, many of the lessons to combine items. That is, the "Language" lessons are often about health issues, science and history. This helps ease my mind a lot, because I know he's learning educational material when reading. (Many of the reading books named for its public schools were no more that See Spot Run). The other advantage is that Time4Learning down your child in their grade level.

As I said, despite the ADHD, my son is gifted. It is designed to do 2nd grade work (which is in first grade), but can move as fast as you can and still master the material, or can be easily / day review and do the work at grade level. For parents, you can create an assignment book that links skills Time4Learning assignments that were supposed to learn. I use to record their grades for the school board to review annually. I found customer service to be very receptive to suggestions, which are regularly adding new characteristics and their customer service is prompt and courteous.

A third resource is http://www.education-world.com/. This website has tons of ideas, printable sheets and activities. Because children with ADD / ADHD have difficulty switching tasks often is preferable to have a "subject" per day, and submit in a variety of formats (read about it, see a movie about him, his application).

Other resources include:

Discovery School: href = "http://school.discovery.com/"> http://school.discovery.com/

ABC Teach: http://www.abcteach.com/

Funbrain: http://www.funbrain.com/

Superkids: http://www.superkids.com/

Everything4Kids: href = "http://www.kapili.com/topiclist.html"> http://www.kapili.com/topiclist.html (This is aimed at the elderly or student)

KidsKnowIt: target = "_blank" href = "http://www.kidsknowit.com/"> http://www.kidsknowit.com/

These resources do not have a program or curriculum, but they're fun. For the child with ADD / ADHD this is especially important. Some days are too stressed, tired or focused on something other than focusing on " fundamentals. "While this does not happen too often, it's okay to let your child do an activity outside in. educational theme he or she is interested in our home is often the wildlife (http://www.enature.com) dinosaurs (KidsKnowIt) or space (NASA).

One suggestion is to create profiles of kid with icons on your desktop only sites 5-10 are supposed to go. My children often stay in the COPUT during hours if they can. Children with ADD get overwhelmed if they have too many options and things to do. This helps to limit distractions.

Sean went from a child who would see on a page of a book and say "Enough words" a child who reads and asks: "Am fluent reading mom?" I got time back in my day to start working part time again. Among these all these resources most any child and / or homeschool family can find what you want.
