Mother visiting and no health insurance. Might Need to see doctor.?
Hello all.
My mother is here on tourism and visiting us. Unfortunately she did not get any health insurance. Now she is having some infection and we might need to see a doctor. Is there any hospital in Chicago which will see her.
Are there any other options available. We live in Dupage county, IL. I would appreciate all the help that I can get.
I would call lawndale christian health center 773-843-3001 or www.lawndale.org.They do except walk in’s but there will be a wait. There are different locations all over the city and they will try and get you an appointment as soon as possible I would explain your situation and you would only pay a sliding scale fee. It would usually be about 15 dollars. You would just need to bring a check stub or a verification from your moms job(fax). They do have a pharmacy there and the drugs are sold at cost if you have no insurance. You could also just walk into cook county hospital and just say you are self pay.Chances are they will not bill you but,It’s not really worth it. You could be waiting 9 to 12 hours to see someone and have to wait just as long to pick up medication. To see a doctor at lawndale you don’t need to be a resident of the city of chicago. All clinics are near public transportation as well.Good luck
