Governmental Health Insurance
Doesn’t it seem unjust to oblige citizens to buy health insurance from private companies?
After all, the objective of such companies is NOT to take care of people’s needs. It is to make money. These are NOT non-profit, non-governmental organizations existing to help others. These are PRIVATE, profit-seeking corporations! Taxes are collected by government to provide for the needs and safety of citizens. Being obliged to pay private health insurers is not only an added on tax, but a way to channel a portion of everybody’s earnings into the pockets of private corporations, many of which have already shown themselves to be lacking in anything resembling humane application of the task they supposedly assume. How is this a reasonable solution to the problem of health care in the US?
Car insurance may look similar … except for the fact that it is not obligatory to have a car. Bodies in need of medical care, we all have.
Yes, that would be very unjust. Why should you have to give your money to a private enterprise if you do not want to? When you are forced to give up your own money by the government, that is called a tax. In this case, the tax does not even go to the government, but directly to a company’s coffers. These companies then may not even be providing anything other than insurance. So, you are forced to give them money, and if you are lucky enough to be healthy, you are just out that money, all because the government says so.
