Bergen, the 2nd largest city in Norway has a reputation for bad weather and not without reason. It's raining more than 260 days each year with a total of 2250mm. This summer (2008) has been and is likely to be the driest in 72 years with 14mm of rainfall in May.

Travel agencies in Bergen are marketing as the "city with a city feel "and is quite right. Very few of the buildings over 4stories high and there are many parts of the city that looks like they did over 150 years ago. Bergen is really small, it takes about 5 minutes walk through the downtown.
The fish market is a need to experiment, since this is the traditional place where all the fishermen used to come from around the city to sell their fish. Today it is mostly populated by tourists.
Bergen have great opportunities for hiking the seven mountains surrounding the city also serves as a gateway for ferries and cruise the fjords runs large.
On Thursday is the best day to go to drink and that most students go out on Thursdays. On Fridays and Saturdays are good too, but the Beer is much cheaper on Thursdays
