Health First
How does treaty and the Indian act affect First Nations health?
Need to know how treaty and indian act affect first nations health. We are learning about first nations of canada back in like 1870s.. did the indians have special health treatment? Did they lose any rights or something?
We need to remember that among the first people who came to the New Land there were those who had very strong religious beliefs. They came from a culture that considered itself very civilized having removed themselves from the ways of their barbarian ancestry. Therefore, they considered the natives of the land barbaric like their ancestors and needed to be educated according to the civilized way of Europe.
I do not know of the specific treatises which took place but I do know that they were highly biased against the natural aspect of the pagan beliefs of the native people. I do believe that this also included any medicine through herbs, which we in fact consider to be very realistic in our natural medicine cultures.
