Law Health
Should i go into health care or law?
I am about to choose my choices and i do. know whether to go into law or health care. I posted a question about law and many people said it was very expensive and hard to find employment. So i have been considering going into health care instead. I wanted to know what jobs are in health care? How much do they pay per year and how long it takes to be qualified in that profession.
Many Thanks.
Health care is a broad field, ranging from lower level positions (orderly) up to highly trained medical specialists (hand surgeons for example). Some aspects of health care involve a lot of patient contact while others do not. See the first link below for more information on health care careers and the second on law careers.
And it is possible to do both law and health care. Having both a health care degree and a J.D. gives one an excellent background for malpractice law. Lawyers sometimes also have degrees such as master of public health (so as to be expert in legal aspects of public health) or a doctorate in pharmacy (for legal issues regarding product liability, pharmaceutical patents, substance abuse, malpractice, etc.). Look at web sites of the law school(s) of interest to you for the types of combined or concurrent degree programs available.
Talk to persons who work in law or health care. Ask what they like and do not like about their work. See if you can “shadow” one or more such persons for a day or more so that you can observe them at work and then ask them questions at a mutually convenient time.
